If you retired at 42, where would you go?

Colorado - Great summers, lots of outdoor stuff. Too many Californians and state income tax.
Texas - Great people, good food, awful weather. No state income tax but property taxes through the roof.
Florida - Cheap as hell and never gets cold. No culture and general cesspool of people.
Tennessee - Four season, low taxes, close to a lot. Getting crowded.

Out of those four:
TN
CO
TX
FL
I'll either retire in AL (most likely), Idaho, or some banana republic.

West: Wyoming, Idaho, S. Dakota, etc. Not far west, normal west.

Either Florida or Texas.
I have lived in Texas in the past, and sometimes I miss it.
When I'm 42, my youngest will be 7, so I'll have to take schools into consideration. I know plenty about Texas schools, I can't say that about Florida.

Lived there ten years. Hot arse summers and winters still get shitty.
Colorado the winters are cold but April - October is absolutely perfect.

I’m a big fan of the South Carolina coast. Mainly because I enjoy playing golf.

You cannot go wrong with any place on that list. If I’m retired with no kids in house, FL. That is our current retirement plan anyway. Only 20+ years away. Ugh

Florida. frick the culture. Give me sunny weather, golf year round, low taxes and a badass governor.

Never thought I'd retire to Florida but considering it now. Hanging it up after 20 with the Army and the money goes a long way and I wouldn't mind waking up every day floating around in a pool.

Probably at Rosemary Beach since I would buy a ton of land after arriving there in the Delorean when I go back in time

A house in Vermont for the summer and skiing, and a house in Louisiana or Texas

Go to Idaho, Wyoming, or Montana.
Help offset the Californians and the Yankees.

TX weather gets a bad reputation. It's between 60-80 degrees for a high in Houston for over half the year.
