Yep. And the rude comments are made by southerners that have never even been. New York people are actually very nice. Sure they won't say Howdy y'all and wave to a stranger, but they love showing off their city

Seriously, I've never had problems with New Yorkers. They are very diverse and honestly pretty tolerant, but just move at a fast pace that is off putting to many Southerners.

Want to find a city full of assholes? Go to Philly. I'm guessing some guy who was being treated like shite in the city called it "The City of Brotherly Love", and they were dumb enough to think he was serious and made it their city motto.

It's a dumb stereotype that I haven't found to have a lot of truth, either. People there are from all over the country and the world, and in what people think of as "New York", there aren't that many true natives.

DC has a lot of arseholes. So does LA for that matter. I haven't found NYC to be like that.

NYC has the greatest mass transit system in the world.. in case you didn't hear about it.

Actually, that's what Philadelphia means in Greek.

Miami >>> NY

even all the New Yorkers would agree. That's why they all end up there.

Just stay away from Pennsylvania Avenue and K Street and that won't be a problem.

The one thing about NY though is they can spot an ignorant tourist from a mile away. There will be people taking advantage if you don't know better.

Most people don't have time for you. Many are very nice.

Just do research. Learn how the streets work and the hoods. Learn how the subway works. Download helpful apps. Tripadvisor and other sites gave useful forums.

Constantly research how things work, where to eat, etc. you'll be fine. Avoid Time Square except to see it once. If you want to do touristy crap don't go in peak time.

Haters gonna hate since it's the OT. If you refuse to go to Disney when your kids want to go, then you're not doing your job as a parent. You can at least enjoy the food in Epcot and get drunk there too. It's not that "trashy" of a trip if you do it right. Grand Floridian and the other luxury resorts are nice and have great restaurants. I probably won't go back until I have kids but I'm still going to have fun; my parents did the same for me so why shouldn't I do the same for my kids?

I immediately thought of mass transit when I read that. Though my friend lived in London and moved to NYC next and thought NYC was a mess compared to Europe.

When I have a kid I will take my kid to Disney once when he's old enough to appreciate. But it's not going to be a yearly thing. I want my kid to experience the world a bit more.

I was standing on the platform to ride up to the Bronx for a Yankees game lookin hip and this man and his wife came up to me and asked me how to get to Yankee Stadium. Then they sat in the same part of the train as me and I could tell they didn't know when to get off because they were watching me and they got up after they saw me get up.

tl;dr some tourists thought I was a local.

People don't line NYC? Who are these fools?

I could never live there but we go two or three times a year.

There's no equivalent in the world.

I'm definitely not going to be like a few families I know who literally go to Disney 2-4 times a year...and still go that much when their kids are in their 20s too! I'm thinking every 3 years when I have kids and staying at a luxury resort. Will never understand the Disney obsessed people that I know who go all the time and stay at shitty places so they can afford going that much. I'd rather go once every couple years and make it a nice trip.
