I'd go back and follow my high school and college self around and tell him to quit being hung up and waste time on chasing snatch he'll never get and not to pass up what he'll realize 10 years later were actually some pretty quality pieces of ace.

I'd go back in time to before you started this thread and punch you in the fricking face for trying to play the hypothetical game with rules.

The future is a no brainer, we already know so much about the past

There wouldn't really be a point in traveling to the past then.

I'm surprised he wasn't heralded a hero for getting rid of a vestige of African exploitation.

I would go probably 50 years into the future to see how my kids and grandkids ended up. Most likely, I won't still be here in 50 years.

Obviously it's tough to pick a specific date in the future, but I'd probably pick something like 500 or 1000 years into the future to see what humanity has accomplished and what planets/stars/etc we've managed to visit or colonize, whether alien life exists (microbial or otherwise), what cool technologies actually panned out, whether we've fallen prey to more dictators and tyrants or somehow risen above that shite, etc, etc, etc.

so no touching or really participating just seeing and hearing.

You would be very disappointed since it's all made up. And you'd get sand in your shoes

How long could we stay, do we return back to present time?

Those kinda alter what I would choose.

If we can return back I would go to the far future to see the technology.

If not, I'd probably go back to the 1960s

Then that's no fun because I would want to travel back to ancient Greece and lead a large contingent to establish a remote civilization on the North American continent.
