I wouldn't tell a soul about it

Edit* since it belonged to their neighbor, I'd probably return it as well. My neighbors are good people

I would've took items then returned it and said the vandals just left the safe.

So the neighbors who were robbed in 2011 probably got the insurance money then and now have their stuff back.

According to the movies the neighbors buried it.

The neighbors were “robbed” in 2011.

I would have returned the jewelry because it had sentimental value for the owners but would have kept the cash.

So the local constabulary's crack investigation team couldn't find a trace of the evidence in their exhaustive investigation...leading next door???

sure...I am comfortable enough in life to where it is not necessary to take other people's things.

There's got to be more to this story than what's in the article.

If the neighbors buried the treasure to claim insurance why wouldn't they have gotten their safe back? How far away did the neighbors live, next door? Down the street?

I would do like Ben Quick, and sell the property to Jody Varner.

Next knock at the door will be the insurance company wanting their money back. I would bet they claimed more than 52k also
