Why the hell would the robbers not come back and get the safe where they left it at a later time?

Aren't you the chick who said a few weeks ago that a roux was the "mashed up red beans that form up on the side of the pot"
I'd use the money to get you some lessons on being cajun

I wouldn't tell a soul about it
Edit* since it belonged to their neighbor, I'd probably return it as well. My neighbors are good people
Here's what's messed up about that.
Presumably the neighbors had insurance. So, the neighbors will have to return the money and will either have to return the jewels or the money they got for the jewels.
So, by turning it over, the are only helping the insurance company.
And, F*CK THAT!
If I ever find anything valuable like that I wouldn't tell a soul. Even if you are allowed to keep it legally (i.e., the owner is not found within a certain number of days), the amount recovered becomes taxable income and you must pay tax on the fair market value.
Once again, F*CK THAT AND F*CK THE IRS!

This. Absolutely. I bet the owners are thinking, "Fuuuccccccccccckkkkkkkkkk"
I wonder what they reported stolen to the police and insurance company. My inner cynic always suspects an inside job, but there's actually a good chance that the owners weren't involved.

Who puts an address in the safe?

How trashy do you have to be to have a huge safe in your yard and never even bother checking to see why there’s a big arse box in your yard?

Anybody else think the news reporter is kind of hot.

It was only (allegedly) there for 7 years but looks like it has been in the elements for 30 years.
Smells like bullshite.

So the neighbors who were robbed in 2011 probably got the insurance money then and now have their stuff back.
According to the movies the neighbors buried it.

A lot of people are saying the neighbors are involved and the safe purposely went missing, but if you were going to do this, why would you burry it with the contents inside? wouldn't you at the very least keep all of the cash?

Next knock at the door will be the insurance company wanting their money back. I would bet they claimed more than 52k also
And the IRS
