And yet, I'm quite happy. You would think that would be impossible by reading the OT.

Unless you're a Taoist....

quote:

Without opening your door, you can open your heart to the world. Without looking out your window, you can see the essence of the Tao.
The more you know the less you understand. The Master arrives without leaving, sees the light without looking, achieves without doing a thing.

Of course you're happy, you got out of Alec!!!

Ruston is a beautiful little town. Very nice and scenic, filled with great people, ect. Not a fan of Shreveport, though I have family there.

My family did enough moving around when I was a kid for me to want to do any now. Born in Mobile, lived in Augusta GA (don't remember it because I was 6 weeks old to a year old), back to Mobile, to Birmingham, to Meridian Mississippi, to Dothan, then to Troy for college and to Birmingham for the past 10.5 years. Seemed like we moved every 2-4 years until my parents settled down in Dothan. I was in 4 different schools from K4 to 4th grade. Dad was always moving for a residency position or a new job at a hospital, before he finally joined a partnership that brought us back to Alabama.

And moving sucks. Even across town moves. I've moved between cities 3 times as an adult. And across town twice since college. It sucks. My wife may not like it much, but the house we're in now I expect to grow old in. We may not move houses again until my kids (6 and 1) are off in college. Or if we have another and need more bedrooms. I may downsize after they're in school, or maybe when the first one leaves for school.

Just do yourself a favor and never move to Baton Rouge.

You'll live a much better life.

Lets see, I've lived (spent 3 months or more) in the follow places...

Baton Rouge, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Chicago, Yokosuka Japan, Shreveport, Lafayette, Houston, Pittsburgh, Kuala Lumpur, Calgary.

Every time I tell people I'm from south Louisiana I get the EXACT SAME RESPONSE - "you don't sound like you're from Louisiana"

I know, csb

What's your problem with Atlanta? Been working here for 8 months and not a bad place at all.

Just never cared for it. It strikes me as just a giant Baton Rouge without any of the little bit of charm BR possesses. It just strikes me as a giant clusterf&%k and has done nothing to dissuade me of that opinion in the half-dozen times I have been.

Atlanta is a big place. 6 million people. There are places that would suck to live. And there are places that are cool to live.

I'm on Piedmont Park in Midtown and very happy .. think N.O. warehouse district pushed up next to Audubon Park.

I agree with this basic premise. The key to moving to a large city is breaking it down to a smaller community within the metro area.

I want to live in Norway, California, or Colorado. Maybe summers in Wisconsin, and a ranch in Idaho or Montana.

I live in Crowley, LA.
