If you could snap your fingers and the U.S. homeless population would disappear

Jesus was homeless 2000 years ago.
It's a drug problem. People have easy availability to drugs and doing them in public has no repercussions. Neither does destruction of public/private property that results from this behavior.
Until these progressive cities and our progressive feds start dealing with this fact, this problem will only get worse. Unfortunately, our society doesn't have the stomach to deal with it head on. We are more third world like every day.
In some recent OT post, somebody pointed to this documentary about Seattle. Sad. Seattle Is Dying Should be required viewing for all city progressives.

I could walk down Death Row in any prison and pick them out.
Give me a quick Spreadsheet on each on and I'd just do a quick read and gas most of them...DOA
Can't shoot a firearm in enclosed places and have you seen the price of ammo lately..

why are you being soo defensive? it was a legitimate return question to the OP’s original proposition.

if God wants to look me in the eye and end up telling me “I was supposed to work hard and just help out endless amounts of shitheads who were never going to do shite” then I’ll be grilling him on why he created THAT many pieces of shite

I'd rather do it for the "takers"

ETA:roughly 600,000 homeless in the United States
Well you could give every single one of them 100,000 each to end homelessness in their own way.
That would be less than amount we have been pissed away in the Ukraine so far.
But in about a week or month, half would be homeless again.

Money doesn’t fix the homeless problem. See California and how much they spend. The problem continues to get worse.
The ugly truth is that most homeless aren’t vets who have mental issues and are down on their luck. They are mostly addicts who don’t give a frick where they live as long as stupid white ladies give them money and they can get their fix.

If we are snapping magic fingers, pedophiles just vanished.
First things first.
You are welcome.

It’s an interesting question about the human condition: if you could magic the current homeless away, would new homeless replace them? My money says yes. It’s why you’ll never cure any social conditions…. homelessness, poverty, addiction, etc… it’s part and parcel of humanity.

Tim Dillon said there’s two solutions: build affordable housing, or construct a giant pot and boil them all alive.

Systems thinking...
INPUTS-->PROCESS-->OUTPUTS
OUTPUTS:
Homelessness, poverty, addiction
PROCESS:
Bad choices
INPUTS:
Lack of family structure and support, parenting,s education, opportunity, productive identity, etc

I have forbid my wife from giving to homeless for this very reason. We take money to the local shelters directly.
And to hell with the woke salvation army.

I’ve long advocated for feeding the homeless to the hungry. Two birds with one stone

Enough to feed the entire world for 2 years and install a 30 foot concrete border wall …

This. Especially during Christmas and the holidays of all times.
These are people’s sons and daughters and brothers and sisters - they aren’t rats, they are human beings.
Do some prefer homelessness? Maybe. But I guaranty it’s few and far in between.
Think for one second just how miserable it would be to be sleeping outside, under an overpass in this cold weather. You’re hungry, cold, smell, and on concrete…
Many will exclaim, “But he’s a drunk or using!” My response, yeah, can you blame him? Put yourself in that person’s situation. Anything to numb you, warm you up, dull the pain or pass you out makes sense in those living conditions…
