Well said. My grandfather served. He received the Purple Heart. The stories he told were heart breaking.

Sure, make me Eisenhower.

I’d never get touched, and could run around in France with my pick of the newly-liberated French girls.

Well that’s not even sporting.

Also this is the weirdest hypothetical ever. I’ve done this 1000 times already on the Xbox

That's just his fellow soldiers too, not even the POW's, ovens filled with ashes of the Jewish or ditches full of bodies.

Damn, we got us a snowflake!

Yep. Two people: My Grandfather and Audie Murphey.

Nothing personal dude, but if you were in Dick Winter's body for the war, I think things may not have gone as they did for Easy Company.

As much as I love to study WWII there is no way in hell I would want to see, smell, hear or experience any of the battles first hand. Many of those men experienced things that we can't even imagine. All you have to do is read With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge to know that no one left there without being injured in some manner.

My great grandfather served in WW2. He was drafted from his family and his job in his early 30s, imagine that. Most of the guys he was serving with were in their late teens to early 20s

Anyway, by the time I came along he was too old to really have a filter, and well into his 90s. Told me some stories that he probably shouldn’t have. He was one of the big reasons I joined the Marines out of high school. I wish we had a little bit more of that generation in modern day America. Probably the greatest generation our country has ever known.

No. But it might be good for the average american civilian to witness the horrors of war. Then again, the last thing we need is for a bunch of assholes claim disability when they get PTSD from a video game.

In a heartbeat. Grandpa fought on Guadalcanal & Iwo Jima and made it back. Never got to talk to him. Would love to see what he went through.

I have a great Uncle who died in France. They actually put up a memorial for him where he died on the anniversary of their liberation. The only way I would want to go back would be if I could somehow meet him.

Clarence Hughes Memorial

quote:

At this place on August 29th 1944 Sgt Clarence P. Hughes of the 893rd Tank Destroyer Battalion gave his life for the liberation of France

He came to fight for freedom
To a land he had never seen
For a people he had never met
For his success he gave the ultimate sacrifice
May God bless his soul

I'd want to see the war through Hitler's eyes. We have a ton of info on the German side but we never really got to dig into Hitler.
