.....No. I would not want to go back and risk dying in a war that has already been decided just to see what it was like.
I have always thought it would be cool to have a birds eye view of real battles through history just to see what they were like. (Thermopylae, Alamo, etc.)

Edit: you wouldn’t actually die. Just be able to see the war thru someone who actually fought in the war’s eyes. But you could only do it once. So you pick one person and live that reality thru that person for however long they made it.
Don't think I'd want to be that close to the action still. Would be very cool, but those men saw some pretty horrific things.

Hey... that wasn’t in Call of Duty..?
But I’d be interested to see what my Grandfather did. He served on the USS Alabama, and jumped off the front of the ship when they were off the coast of Washington State just for fun. That’s really the only story I know regarding his time on the ship. Probably wouldn’t be all that interesting, but I know they didn’t have any casualties during the war.

Who was the guy who banged that hot Australian chick in The Pacific on HBO? I'd be him.

I had two great uncles that served on a carrier in the pacific and had no idea they were on the carrier together until one of them was called over the loudspeaker to come to the flight deck. So the other great uncle hears his brother’s name called over the loudspeaker and goes to make sure it’s the same person that he’s thinking of and lo and behold, it is his brother.
Would’ve loved to have been a fly on the wall for that encounter. Two brothers in the middle of the biggest war the world has ever seen meeting for the first time since they last saw each other at home in Red Lick, TX. I don’t know if that would’ve been comforting or not for them to know that they were serving on the same ship and a carrier much less. Seeing as carriers were prime suspects for Japanese air raids. They both got through the war and made it back home. One of them ended up switching over to the Marine Corps and served in Korea.

Robert Leckie, author of Helmet For My Pillow
Served on Guadalcanal, New Guinea (I think) and Pelilieu.

Given the shortage of young men that occurs after major wars, the post-War occupation forces in Europe would be my desired "relive the war" stomping grounds
