If you could live anywhere in the US, where would it be?

I expect to get a wide range of answers. My answer is a place where I actually lived for 2 years (2011-2012). It is a place none of you have ever heard of called Sautee, Ga. It is in the North Georgia Mtn.'s just outside a little town called Helen. Paradise.

All things considered, the Northern Cali/Southern Oregon territory would be incredible to live in, provided you had money just to play and enjoy the scenery.

Like in Nashville proper?
We were there this weekend for a concert and the traffic was abysmal.

I love where I live, and don’t really want to move. If I did, it would be Telluride, CO or somewhere in the San Juan Islands. Maybe Bend, Jackson, or Tahoe.

my wife grew up near Dandrige, TN and its like a slice of heaven up there. Draw a straight line between there and Waynesville, NC and i'm sure I could find the perfect spot. Live a simple mountain life but have access to the gulf coast with ease.

That's an interesting choice. Place really has the most 'end of the world' feel of any place I've been to in the Continental US.
I guess if that's something you can deal with, or even find desirable, it would be a nice place. It strikes me as the type of thing that would get old quick, though.

On the Devils River north of Del Rio, Texas. It is rural, about an hour from civilization, but you have one of the nicest rivers in the world in your backyard, get a few acres for hunting, and you are set.
If I left Texas, probably on 100 acres in the Virginia Hunt Country.
It is rural and very nice. I would probably be the poor guy around but I wouldn’t even care. I would have it made.

if employment was not an issue, hands down the Jasper Arkansas area.

I'd like to retire to a fishing village with somewhat decent amenities. Port Saint Joe, Apalachicola, or Islamorada
if we're including territories- Water Island, USVI

Islamorada, or Palm Beach (different price point) - Fort Myers wouldn't be too bad either.
