Mid-1960s, would allow me to be in high school/college during the 80s

Unless you hit the jackpot, you probably wont like the situation you get dropped into in this one.

1840 so I could lead the Confederacy to victory with my exceptional leadership then today we could be toppling Yankee statues

The golden era a rock-n-roll, baseball, and football(1954-63). I guess this would have put me being born in the mid 1940's.

only for royalty, everyone else was either a slave or was in constant danger of getting in trouble and being made into a slave.

then there was the constant famines and plagues as well as the petulance, ya great times to live in

the reality of living in those times is not what you see in movies

I’d choose to be born in the 17th century and blow up the Dutch Trading Company ships to stop the slave trade from making it’s way to the new world.

I know it wouldn’t be a great time to be a commoner but finding out how they did the pyramids and other information they had would be awesome. That’s why I originally left out what type of person you would be so it’s broad enough to see the best things of he period.

i wouldn't change a damn thing. growing up in the 70s & early 80s was absolutely perfect.

bike riding, collecting coke bottles for nickels so i could buy a candy bar or a game of space invaders, magnum PI and dukes of hazard on tv, sears christmas catalogs, toughskins jeans and playing freeze tag until dusk and someone's parents started whistling for their kids to come to dinner.

this was the only time we saw smoke, instead of juveniles breaking windows and burning buildings.

breathing that shite also made us impervious to becoming triggered pussies later in life.

1936

high school in the early 50s,
college in the mid to late 50s (before all the 60s BS)

Young enough to avoid WWII and Korea,
Old enought to avoid Veitnam.

I’ll settle with what I have. Given that most of what we know of life in other eras is how we see it portrayed on TV or in the movies, I don’t think we get a full appreciation of how tough daily life was. Folks used to be some tough bastards . . . we’ve got it easy.

One of two periods:

Pre Civil War - I would have made a dashing cavalry officer for the 10th Louisiana, or

or

Pre WWII - I would have been a helleva ace flying a Hellcat off the USS Essex

This is such an O. Henry / Twilight Zone / EC Comics thread waiting to happen.

"I wanna be in the Civil War!" *Poof* You're a slave.
"I wanna be in the 40's!" *Poof* You're in a Japanese American Internment Camp
"I wanna be in the 80's!" *Poof" You have AIDS.

I ain't going back to any time that is pre-air-conditioning.

We sat in un-air-conditioned schools from K through 12. No thanks.
