I've read some fairly dumb shite on the OT over the years, but someone advocating for child hunger pretty much tops the list.

It’s so easy to say that, and to a point, I agree. Worthless parents should receive no assistance and their kids should be taken away from them. But when it comes to food, the kids should not be held responsible for their parents failures. I’ve seen it firsthand. Kids really suffer at the expense of bad parents. There has to be a program in place to feed them

Free school lunches are about one of the only socialist type programs I support. For some kids it might be the only hot, moderately healthy meal they get in a day. Kids don’t pick crappy parental

Welfare babies don't approach the waste in foreign wars and corporate welfare. Hell, the fed burned $1.5 trillion in 3 hours this week.

I support cutting government benefits for bad parents and putting that money into adoption costs for people who are desperate for parenthood. I don’t know the exact cost, but I know adoption costs thousands of dollars. Bad parents should definitely be punished; their kids are innocent and would be much better off away from them.

400 years ago only about one in ten could survive childhood. Sound harsh but nature sure had a way of thinning the herd that the strong would survive.

I wonder if that's not the biggest problem today...if we aren't just keeping the frail, enfeebled, and inferior humans alive only to see what kind of weak minded, ridiculous, behavior and thinking that nature was wiping out.

(if that's not a kick-arse concept for trolling the left, I don't know what is)

First to state my position on schools, I feel that the government, all levels of government, should be out of the business of education. Governments do a bad job at education and the only thing they really do well, albeit at a great cost, is killing people in war zones.

Now when it comes to school lunches in our current education system I have no problem with providing lunches free of charge to all students. Research has shown that in many cases eliminating the positions of people that handle money collection for school lunches can cost school lunch programs less than charging the minority that pay for school lunch.

With regards to are current situation, I think the school shutdown is absurd. I think it is more absurd to shutdown the school yet open them up for breakfast and lunch. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would you stop school to prevent kids from being in close proximity of each other to prevent disease only to bring kids close together to eat together??? Even worse, you now have the child being transported to and from school TWICE a day with an adult driving them one or two at a time versus having a bus bring 30 kids at a time for one round trip a day. None of this shite makes sense.

My kids will be just fine and they won't be going to their school to get breakfast and lunch. I sure do wish I could put them on the bus come Monday morning and send them to school though...

I completely agree with you. There is no reason for schools to be open to provide lunch to kids. There should be a separate service for those who need to eat. Maybe a “meals on wheels” type of arrangement. I pray for the kids who are truly in need of nourishment and hope that this virus goes away soon.
