It isn’t money from the US but $6b South Korea paid to Iran for for oil that the US had frozen due to sanctions.
Apparently the money was transferred to a Qatari held account last month in exchange for prisoners and the US will have oversight on how it is spent.
Hamas has already said Iran supported them in the attacks but the money (supposedly) has not been touched.
If that is true the US should freeze the money again. But I don’t have much hope in the Biden administration to do that.

Won't be Russia. It will be the Chinese. They have been building relationships with the 3rd world and ME for the last couple of years.
I hope we don't get involved but I don't trust our government to make a sane decision so we are probably screwed.

Also both countries have nukes. (Assuming Iran) I'm not sure people fear nuclear holocaust in 2023. That concerns me.

As long as this stays conventional it's not a huge deal. This happened as recently as 1973.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens if the Israeli's have strong evidence that the Iranians aided Hamas in planning/carrying out the attack. If Israel has such evidence, then I would expect them to declare war on Iran.
In such a case, I don't think the U.S. will get "directly" involved, but I don't think we will try to restrain Israel, either.

I still doubt the Chinese would really get too involved either. They got everything they could get out of this Iranian regime, and that’s all they cared about. They aren’t a true ally of Iran. They just want to disrupt the US’s presence in the region. I don’t think China likes losers or countries who are about to get their asses kicked either. There’s no more money China can get from Iran.
