ive learned that you dont rely in an email anything you wouldnt care if the group sees. too many people will take those BBC's or single reply emails and forward them on.

I don't really ever see a relevant instance to BCC another person. The only person I ever BCC is myself when I want to keep something in my inbox or put it in a folder, and it's easier to find then going to the sent emails.

edit: What he said ^^^^

I only use BCC for myself. Some people get out of shape when you copy yourself. Not sure whey.

It just makes it easy for me to drop my response in a folder for future reference.

Yep, not sure why, but just to avoid any hassle, I never CC myself, and only BCC myself when needed.

In a long career I think I’ve used bcc twice, and both times I was asked by the person who was bcc’d so they knew what was coming and why.

Otherwise I never think about it.

This is true.

Also had an issue at a previous company where someone would receive an email from a vendor rep, they would forward it to someone in our dept, we would discuss the situation, and then the person would reply back to the vendor with all of our replies visible. Luckily nothing too bad happened but could be confidential stuff or discussion of other vendors potentially.

I never BCC. IF i want to share an email privately, I go to the sent box after sending and forward to the person. This way, they cannot Reply All unintentionally.

I BCC to one person only and so far (over two+ decades) that person has not screwed it up.

I only BCC a handful of times per year, so not many chances.

I’d send a separate email forwarding the other email in any other circumstance.

I have never BCC'd. Its the ultimate bitch move. If I want someone to see an email I will just add them CC so people can see who received the email.

If someone finds out you BCC'd someone then you will lose their trust.

Has anyone ever had someone try to call them out on something in an email and doing so they CC a bunch of people, including people who has nothing to do with the situation?

I'm convinced half the workforce doesn't even know what BCC is. I've found the same thing.. half the time they just reply all and don't even look at the recipients.

I always hit reply all with a simple "Thanks!" Only takes me two seconds to brighten up countless people's day with a little old-fashioned politeness.

OP does know that the bcc is how you prevent a long arse chain of stupid replies to all, yes?
