You're already aware that the shite is hitting the fan and/or there's not a whole lot you can do about it. If somebody has launched nukes or Yellowstone is about to blow, how am I going to benefit from receiving a text?

How about in Hawaii whenever they sent out a random alert system message saying ICBM's were inbound to the island and take cover, then took a period of time to respond.

That would have been a great opportunity to utilize it, wouldn't it?

There are so many instances where this could be necessary, and it's called being prepared.

So you think people will find out about something faster through other avenues than a text straight to 10s of millions of cellphones?

I'm saying if it's a true existential crisis a text wont make any difference.

I forgot about that.

Can you imagine being in that situation? it's just another day then all of a sudden you get an "official" message telling you that you are about to get some bombs dropped on you.

Wasn't it like 30 mins later until they got the message out that it was a false alarm? That could legitimately cause people to do something crazy.

No joke, I'm surprised that didn't turn out to be a horrific situation, or was just glossed over. Can imagine people doing any number of things to survive, or to avoid the pain/after effects.

He's probably just going to use it like he uses twitter.

PRESIDENTIAL ALERT - Statistical proof that a wall will be a good thing. China had a wall for years and look how many Mexicans are in China.

lets say you are out hunting or fishing

dont you want to know if there is a tidal wave coming or a terrorist attack so you can take steps to make sure your familty is safe

granted there are very few situations it would be needed.

this presidential alert system is for 9/11 type attacks or unforeseen impending natural disasters, or attacks on america

CNN would never play a hymn these days. Those idiots would still be worried about offending someone, even if the world was coming to an end.

Maybe. It's a tool in the toolbox. In the event of an incoming terrorist/nuke attack, it can be useful. Especially if you are not in front of a tv/computer.

Exactly, and wasn’t the system that was tested today signed into law in 2016?
