I think the problem is how much we have built up the coast, and if we do get to where we can see ice melting, it is possible that coastal areas could be lost.
I know Pacific islands are worried about this issue.

Got to love the OT, ask a question. MOTHERfrickING state that you DO NOT BUY man made global warming and still you get idiot response like this.
Quit gasping. You stated "you dont fully believe in man made global warming", which reads that you may kinda sorta somewhat in a weird way not completely rule it out. You cant keep a leg on each side of the fence. Stop pretending like you said "I certainly dont believe man has any conceivable effect on our climate, and to think so is asinine because of how minute we really are in the grand scheme of things. To think otherwise is pure arrogance." You either believe in it or you dont.

It will literally take for New Orleans to drown in order for the idiots on this site to believe it, and even then I bet the morons over on the Poliboard will still insist it isn't.
Why would that prove it? Oceans have risen and fallen, quite largely, throughout history. There are Roman cities that were port cities, that are now completely land locked. Why are we under the assumption that current sea levels are "correct"?

The climate changes... does mankind influence that? Sure. Would it eventually happen anyway as a natural ebb and flow? Also yes.
In my non-scientific opinion.
That's like a murderer trying to justify killing people by saying they were going to die eventually anyway.

Did man cause this this ice to melt?

The last 15 years have been the hottest on record, year after year. Climate Change is real and people need accept it already. This warming trend is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Why absolutes? I do not have enough of a scientific background to truly grasp the big picture. I have the news saying it's real, and Tigerdroppings saying it's fake.
I was only thinking of a post I read last year that poked fun for someone saying something akin to "global warming is not real because it's cold as hell at my house today"
Who cares what I believe, the question was would more people believe if they saw changes in TEMPERATURE, that would then make them buy the CLIMATE is changing.

Ya I can't wait to catch bonefish and snook in lake ponchatrain. Let me know when they show up and I'll be there!

Everyone is going to die eventually.
Just like climate is going to change whether we like it or not.
The question is, are we accelerating the change?

Yes, global warming is real. No, nobody is going to do a damn thing about it. We will have to adapt or go extinct.

Science has proven global warming. The only people who don't believe in it are scientist paid off by Big Oil and also the high school-level graduates who vote Republican no matter what.
Explain why these left wing scientists changed the name to "climate change"?

Hey hoss, it's barely winter yet. We just finished fall.

It boggles my mind that people don't think that MAYBE just maybe.... Human beings are affecting the climate of the earth
Next time you're stuck in traffic in BR look at all the cars around you. Now think of all the cars in Louisiana. And in NYC. All the factories in China. Producing these carbon carrying gasses every single day.
The scientific fundamentals of global warming have been proven and the greenhouse effect is agreed upon.
Just because we had a warm winter doesn't prove global warming. And having a really cold winter doesn't disprove global warming. These anomalies have happened for all eternity. Global warming is about the eventual gradual TREND. It's not happening overnight. But I do believe it's happening.
I mean we punched a hole in the Ozone layer from the propellants in our aerosol bottles for Christ sake. Luckily since those were banned the hole is projected to be completely repaired by the end of this year. And you think CAR exhaust and what have you are innocuous to our environment??
Even if you don't believe in global warming you have to admit all this aerosol pollution is not good for us. What's wrong with moving towards clean energy alternatives?
Wouldn't you rather walk through NYC not inhaling exhaust fumes one day? Sounds pretty great to me.

Thank you for proving my point that even apocalyptic scenarios aren't enough for this site to change their minds. They are largely immune to reason.
I will never understand why conservatives don't believe in Global Warming, despite the fact that in theory, the term "conservative" means that they wish to conserve. What Republicans think about the environment is overwhelmingly liberal. I could only imagine what Teddy would think about his party's current environmental stances.
I don't exactly think taxing the hell out of companies that emite CO2 is the answer, since they would merely go to China and India who don't give a single frick about the environment. But we sure as hell should be investing in other energy sources that are less damaging to the environment, and once these are economically viable, they will naturally replace environmental damaging means of getting energy.

1 super volcanic eruption does more damage to the ozone than man has done.
Global cooling is far more dangerous than global warming.
