OMG! Would you just die!

You wouldn’t die because “you can’t stand them”. You’d die because a 200 lb spider murked you.

And that’s why Starship Troopers came out. We now know how to defeat the insects!

… which would be the most formidable in a one on one fight?

a flea, them things are insatiable blood suckers and you can barely even crush them when they are so tiny, can you imagine one the size of a large dog?

The answer has got to be an insect of some sort.

I remember reading that if an ant was the size of a human being that it would be able to shatter Usain Bolt's records while carrying an elephant.

Yeah but decreasing the surface area to volume ratio is gonna frick that up. Not a 1:1 scale up for strength

If you take away 1:1 scale the conversation is not nearly as fun

The correct answer is the Ironclad Beetle. Literally nothing you have could defeat it in a fight. I’ll put it this way how badass this beetle is: you can run over it with a car and it walks away unscathed. It can support 39,000 times its own weight. Even a machine gun or bazooka would not do all that much to it if it could still support 39,000 times it’s own weight:

Though one to two stings from the Asian giant hornet can prove fatal to humans, they prefer to wreak havoc on colonies of honey bees. A group of no more than thirty of these incredibly talented killers can wipe out an entire colony of 30,000 bees in just a few hours.

Even more disturbing, Asian giant hornets prefer to swoop down on their prey, using their mandibles to decapitate their targets. Asian giant hornets can grow up to two inches in length and are capable of stinging a human through a rain jacket. What’s more, the venom in that stinger is designed to break down the cells in your flesh and send searing, intense pain through your nerve cells.

The Praying Mantis would be one of the top killers for sure. But I just learned about the Bombardier Beetle.

[quote]The bombardier beetle then blasts its would-be predator with a chemical mixture that can reach up to 22 miles per hour at 100 degrees Celsius (212 degrees Fahrenheit?), When the bug is threatened, it touches the match to the fuel, which then forces its way out of an exit channel in it’s rear end. In order to figure out why the bombardier beetles don’t just explode, the scientists used ultrafast x-ray imaging to capture the moment the beetles pulled the trigger. They discovered that the beetle’s defense acts less like a missile launcher and more like a machine gun, firing between 368 and 735 pulses per second./quote]
