If we could reform our lobbying industry you'd very quickly see legal marijuana. Big pharma, private prisons, and law enforcement have big time money on the line and pay big.

Once everyone in that state starts doing drugs it will be the end of the movie industry. And I say good riddance.

There's been basically zero negatives in Colorado. Billions are being made, citizens who enjoy weed after work are no longer criminals, fast food employees aren't selling it to kids (my first hook ups were all Taco Bell cashiers when I was in middle school), prices are significantly cheaper than the South, higher quality cannabis is sold, flower is checked for mold and unapproved supplements and additives, concentrates ate readily available, and paranoia is almost non-existent.

This is confusing to me. So with the laws on the books right now (i.e. no recreational marijuana), it is easier to get weed and smoke it recreationally than it would be once recreational weed is legal? Why wouldn't you have to hide in your closet and smoke it today since it's not legal for recreational use?

I believe it. In high school 15-18 years ago, drugs were much easier to get than booze. We had to get creative as hell to get alcohol. In middle school, I'd page Reggie or Wanda, meet them at taco bell, order a couple tacos, then go to the bathroom and wait. They'd meet me in there and give me whatever I needed in a drink cup. I'd then eat my tacos and enjoy the free soda, then go get high somewhere.
Prohibition is a fricking joke.

That's a whole different problem, that's unrelated to cannabis use. That's from big pharma lying to doctors about addiction rates. Heroin use is up everywhere. Particularly in rural America.
