Considering the $$ dumped into the Dome in the past few years, I don't see us demoing it and building a new one.

In a better city
You mean the city that is hosting the Super Bowl next year because people love coming to big events in Nola?

I’m going with St. Tammany Parish
St Tammany is where the Professional Soccer and Lacrosse Stadium should be built.

If you move it out of the city, Super Bowls are gone

No one wants to drive to St Tammany to go to a football game.
The only accepable options are
1) where it currently is
2) Where the Iberville is (the plan that was being discussed pre-Katrina)
3) The power plant area by the river (but that looks to be off the table now, and even that is a bit of a stretch to get to other stuff nearby).
NOLA is a big place for big events because of where the dome is compared to other things to do. That's the ONLY reason NOLA can punch above its' weight when it comes to major events. Get rid of that... the NFL is not putting a Super Bowl in St Tammany.

There's nowhere better than the current spot, and there's no need to replace the dome. It's already better than a lot of the new stadiums.

New Orleans needs tourist dollars. The stadium location is key to getting major sporting events.
NO needs leadership

same place or clear out the nearest bad neighborhood to the french quarter and put it there
When Mr. Benson was angling for a new stadium, he wanted the city/state to tear down the old Iberville housing projects just off Canal and put it there. Right on the fringe of the Quarter.

Put in the same spot. The Dome is in good shape relative to it's age with all the renovations. New Orleans needs to build a new arena imo

Where it is. Improve the parking and make some new lots surrounding it.

So what’s the issue with the current Superdome? It looks great after the last round of updates
Posted on 12/17/24 at 12:09 pm to cbree88
To me its idiot proof- ya keep the Dome ,but you update its interior a lil more often

Atlanta, on the other hand, is one of the worst I've ever been to. The stadium is awesome. The surrounding area makes it impossible to leave the stadium with ease. You're surrounded by interstates and fences and have to walk ~45 minutes to be able to get a ride out of the area. Unless you're staying at the Omni next door, you're in for a rough time.
Huh? To get to the Peachtee Center core, all you have to do is go right out the main entrance and down International Boulevard past the GWCC (or down COP Drive) and you're right at Centennial Park. I agree that there is room for improvement though.
