Friend,
I would have told them politely that they could not enter the home. Potentially spreading this deadly virus, especially to elderly family members, is a most profound reproach upon virtuous living. Ignore the group think that dominates here and recognize the seriousness of your situation. What, God forbid, would do you if this time two weeks from today, your elderly relative is struggling in the ICU due to your failure to act decisively and justly, even if it offends?

To be fair the SIL doesn't have corona, she just worked with someone who tested positive for it.
I've never been asked, or asked, about who I was exposed to any year leading up to this.

Same thing I’d tell someone who’s been hanging out with influenza or a common cold virus for a week... i’d dont allow sick people in my house
