Costco's bold new plan for the California housing crisis
quote:
The project, to be built by developer Thrive Living and architects AO, was first announced early last year in a press release that revealed renderings of a mixed-use model with multiple floors, open courtyard spaces and other amenities. All told, the build would encompass not only the Costco store (and necessary parking) but a whopping 800 residential units, including 184 set aside specifically for low-income tenants.

The fun challenge of living in a Costco isn’t so fun, nor is it challenging, if people know you are doing it.
The hypothetical is to be able to do it and thrive without anyone catching you.

With this information available, I’m sure those other 616 units will just fill right up. Probably have to get a a waiting list for one.

Your title is absolutely stupid and misleading

Read it was to house the construciton workers.
Costco seems to know what they're doing. Membership will curtain shoplifters.

Slowly and legally rounding up the ingrates.
Hitlers pen to paper quote has always been spot on.

So yes, 800 small apartments can fit on top of a Costco in the middle of Los Angeles, with 23% of those units reserved for low-income residents and all units eligible for Section 8 vouchers.
They just doomed that entire project. That entire block will be nothing but a drug infested slum given time. The store will close and then you'll have an empty shell of a store with squatters in it, above and underneath it.

Put one at Bucees and IWLT

There’s a Publix in Birmingham that has like 8 floors of apartments above it. There are elevators that go right into the store. Not going to lie that is really tempting when it comes time to make a beer run.

We did this with a HEB and a Multifamily Building in Houston.

I would bet this is nothing more than tax credit grab.
