Idea to help mental health of veterans

Frankly, the way veterans are treated in this country is disgusting. I believe one way to help fight this is to make them settle in the places they served and appoint them to run local government.
I believe this would help in a couple different ways.
1) this would keep the vets occupied and give them a sense of purpose after the job is done.
2) will give them a solid source of income
3) this will serve as an incentive to treat the civilians with respect and not to destroy local infrastructure because- “Hey! Well have to live there one day”
4) this will help spread American influence.
This would also be beneficial to Americans on the home front because it will cut down on the homeless.

So you want to force people to live where they may not want to live and have a bunch of people run government that have no clue how to run government.
Not saying we would not get better results but that is a messed up suggestion.

You're right, telling a bunch of strong willed individuals they have to settle somewhere and run the government is definitely the way to go.

I’ve got a better idea. How about we ship ungrateful, lazy good for nothing people that want to tell others how to live to some shitholes, and give those resources to veterans instead and allow them to be productive members of society
