It’s a lot easier for folks to act self-righteous in an online forum than sitting beside their devastated wife in a doctor’s office faced with the decision of bringing a special needs child into their lives until their dying days.
Except that I did it, so there’s nothing self-righteous in this. And no matter how you slice it, it’s killing a human life for convenience.

Did you just tell a poster that has a child with downs that it’s easy to act self-righteous?
Holy cow

Fellow Down syndrome dad. My girl is the best. She’s 6. She’s hard. The hard times with her are HARD. The other times are GREAT.
Mine is 21. She’s wonderful, she’s perfect, she’s a butthole at times, and she started her first semester of college this fall. It’s been a glorious ride with her.

Yep… and Canada loves their MAiD program and Iceland kills its undesirable pregnancies.

Do you want a gold star? I mean, congrats?
You and your wife made a choice to willingly bring a genetically mutated child into the world. I’m sure your daughter/son is lovely, full of spirit, and has the innocence of a sweet puppy. I’m also sure they’re more work than your other kids and, should you pass before him/her, someone else will be responsible for caring for your adult child.
That’s all a tough pill for a lot of people to swallow. So come on down from your moral high-horse and realize what’s good for the goose isn’t always good for the gander.

YOU made a statement that people online are self-righteous about this and can only speak as they are in this thread because they aren’t in that situation. Then I tell you that I am in that situation, I made that choice, and this is the response you come back with?
Take your fricking lick and move on. We all put our foot in our mouth at times, you did here. Own it and move forward. Your argument is legitimately that killing another human being for convenience is a reasonable line of logic. No, it’s not. But if I’m arguing with someone who is so self-absorbed that “self” is more important than life in the base case, then you prove the point that protecting life is not all that important for far too many.

For Downs or Autism. I would want the kid. . But I've seen first hand much worse conditions. I had a family member born without most of his brain. He never learned to walk, talk, or even able to feed himself. For 17 years he was like a giant toddler. Though he was happy and laughed a lot. I know i would have aborted.
If someone has to choose between raising a person in a vegative state or abortion. I don't fault them for choosing termination.

What no one should be able to do is kill an unborn child. That is my point.

What's wrong with eugenics?
