Slow moving. Big circulation to push more water. Stronger winds, which also push more water. All combined with a terrible approach angle.
It's everything you dread seeing.

Is anyone still chasing this thing live? What are the winds looking like now?
Anyone heard from wolfie and co?

He may be referring to number of households, not people. That 18.1% number would track better.

As I posted in another thread, I'm in Winter Garden which is a few miles SSW of Orlando. Just starting to get here. Heavy rains and I can hear the wind gusts but so far nothing worse than what I experienced in Lafayette when I lived there. However, the next couple of hours look to be "fun", so we'll see what that looks like. I still have power, as of now. Hopefully, the remains the case.

Unreal. Biggest insurance disaster ever.

A tree fell on I-4 in Maitland.

Customers = households and businesses, not people. That's why I specifically said 'customers'. There are over 11 million total electric utility customers in Florida.

First time in a hurricane thread? These things are always full of invaluable info. Sure there is some bs but most of it is entertaining.

Keep your head down, baw. There’s still tornadoes to worry about.

Both Cape Coral and Fort Myers had serious storm surge inundation, and obviously Fort Myers beach.

Your night has only just begun, unfortunately. Ian could still be a Cat 1 when he reaches you.

True. I'm not far from Disney so would be shocked if I see any tornadoes but stranger things have happened. Next couple of hours are supposed to be the worst of it here.

The eye (or what’s left of it) is passing close by (here in Sebring). We had some severe wind and rain and now it has calmed down some. We’re expecting more wind but not as much rain as the storm passes by us.

It's only just begun. Ian is currently dumping extreme rainfall just to the north of the center with Orlando dangerously close to getting into it.
But even just from surge, I'm not sure many comprehend the scale of what we'll see in the morning.
