Checking in from Sarasota. It got pretty insane down here, gusts over 100mph. Finally starting to slow down some. So far only visible damage is a small part of our fence fell over. Roof seems to be intact and our pool lanai somehow doesn't appear to be damaged or even have any torn screens. Haven't had power since 1pm, hopefully we won't be without that too long.
My hospital said I'll probably need to come in tomorrow afternoon or Friday. Thanks for everyone who sent out hopes and prayers and for keeping this thread updated!

Your house is either built like a brick shithouse or you're screwing with us

You're correct. Ground zero for Laura was Grand Chenier. Nothing but fishing camps there.
Creole had the highest surge at 17.1'. The high water mark was measured in the bathtub/shower of a second story bathroom.

I would have been screaming like a two year old so badly the crew would have had to kill me just from their embarrassment .

Wasn’t the worst of the storm surge from Laura around Rockefeller refuge where it’s sparsely inhabited? Maybe some others can confirm?
Yes. Grand Chenier got 17 feet.

One of my best friends lives in Maitland north of Orlando. Looks like he is gonna get walloped by tons of rain.

Turned around and booked Disneyland for the exact same time for like $1000 cheaper.
Not remotely the same

Maitland lost power. Two family members there.

I had a feeling it had. He said he prepped the best he could. Not sure if he left or not.
