Hope my fellow FL baws stay safe. I'll be riding this bad boy out overseas, but will be watching through my home cameras (provided the power stays on).

We have a mama bobcat the size of a Labrador who likes to pace the top of our 10 ft fence to hunt for rabbits in our yards. I face off with her weekly bc she doesn’t care if I’m out there or not. I would never jack with electrical boxes and water. Or 155 mph winds and a category 5. You’re a brave chick.

Why didn't you just shoot'em? You were raised on Evangeline. I know you have a 9, that you probably shoot sideways.

My in laws are in Plano, and a bobcat the same size as that had her litter in the top part of their outdoor fireplace chimney a year or 2 ago. They're all over the burbs since they just popped mcmansion after mcmansion on top of their habitat.

Silver lining is that by the time anyone sees those winds the storm will likely be deteriorating approaching land. Fingers crossed.

Unfortunately. Even as a Florida East Coast resident (Vero Beach) I know the beaches on that side are the real treasures of our coastline. Captiva, Sannibel, Clearwater, etc. Hoping for a quick recovery.

You sound much braver than me! Facing down a bobcat is pretty awesome. Electricity scares me to death. I got thrown off a chair while replacing a ceiling fan once.

It's getting real now.

Hangit, big gusts.

Cat 5? Seriously?

Last NHC advisory was still calling for 140mph sustained winds at landfall.

Kinda puckering in Orlando. We know the winds will diminish quite but before it gets near here but still starting at that intensity it needs to come down a lot for us not to get hammered, especially with the track right on top of us. Catastophic flooding is of course still a distinct possibility and probably the biggest concern.

Yeah. That NW quadrant is what the models were seeing to create the 20 inch rainfall totals to the north of the track. Hopefully winds drop somewhat quickly before that part of storm reaches coastline.

But wind a good distance to the north of landfall point will still be an issue. There is no 'weak' side with this beast. Only land interaction will weaken him now.

I called Animal control out last week bc she jumped up there and paced while we were in the pool then jumped into our back yard and just sauntered past us with no worries. They recommended that we get these red blinking “eyes” to put around our yard to scare her off. Apparently they see the eyes and think it’s a larger predator. They told me to put them up asap bc we didn’t want her moving her family into our back yard or having babies there. Hoping it works.

The coyotes are worse.

I am a Catholic, 5'0 tall white girl. I shoot like the good Lord intended. Just because my dad went to Redemptorist and I grew up in the hood doesn't make me ghetto.
