Due to Hurricane Ian’s anticipated impacts on Central Florida, Walt Disney World has announced park closures, reduced operating hours, and cancelled entertainment through at least Friday, September 30, 2022.

Wouldn’t that put Tampa/St. Pete in the worst quadrant of the storm?
I would think Cape Coral/Fort Meyers would be the worst, with the rotation pushing the surge into the river/harbor there.

Surprisingly quiet on Fort Myers Beach. Whatever those dudes are doing there under the pier they should've done a day ago. That whole island might be submerged tomorrow.
Pretty sure that is Reed Timmer installing a surge detector.

Tampa may dodge the worst but I worry about a buddy in Sarasota. Bad.

Tornado warnings spinning up all around us. We just went through a heavy band of rain but it has let up for now.

Slag you hunkering down or you getting jiggy with it and moving to a different location?

Only closed 8 times since 71. I hope they don’t because I’m headed there now Wednesday night. If they cancel my flight I’m driving in. Wife is sold on going so my daughter can see the Halloween party.

@FLBooGoTigs1 The family and I aren't too far from you. Down 210 in the Shearwater community. Stay safe!
I’m in St. John’s golf and country, I hope this thing jogs away from us!

I heard on that local station the weather gal said the tornado bands seem to be more intense and lasting longer than usual off these hurricane bands. Ian popped a Viagra earlier

Captiva and Sanibel Islands may be completely submerged with the current track. I saw a tweet pointing this out, but can't find it now.

Tampa still might get tons of rain, hurricane force winds, and 3-6' surge. These wobbles right now should still have Tampa folks paying close attention.

That sucks.
We were there and June and loved it.
I think this is all my fault - I said to my wife while we were there...frick this place if a hurricane comes.

Me about an hour ago:

Yeah, that one is on the ground.
For various reasons, we're going to have a better than normal chance to see significant tornadoes with Ian. Usually, they're quick spin-ups on the weaker side. There's a little higher ceiling with any warnings that are issued this time around.
Of course, the usual "little to no warning" tag applies, as is true with any tropical system.
Yeah, that's the sound of me tooting my own horn that you hear.

The comparisons are warranted. Ian is bigger and the damage will be more widespread, I think.
