Cook more and eat out less

ask your server to please box up half of your meal before they bring it to the table

The new trend of scanning a bar code to read the menu on the phone SUCKS. I find the older I get the smaller the writing is so blowing it up large enough to read on my phone means I’m reading the got damn description in segments.

I’m doing keto so I usually ask for the protein a la cart. Some places will do it and some won’t.

Most places I go to lunch have lunch menus priced accordingly.

This thread amazes me, it’s opposite world. I dislike how small lunch portions are.

Go to Chipotle and get the burrito bowl if you want a good meal with small portions.

The trend needs to move from huge portions back to normal size portions and up charge the people who want more.

Your idea sounds plausible in theory, but what would actually happen is the portion size would be cut down and the price would remain the same.

You ever been to Italy? Their portions are much smaller and it's easy to see why Americans are so fat.

Yawn. Compare our WW2 records and get back to me.

Edit: But seriously my wife spent 6 weeks in Italy and while she's already slender she dropped weight from walking everywhere and from the smaller portions and types of food the Italians eat

Has it never occurred to you that you don’t have to eat it all and can in fact request a to-go box?

Once products can be sold at a certain price, they often never get lower again, especially foods. Remember about ten years ago, gas prices surged world wide, grocery and food-service prices soared often with fuel surcharges added to prices. Fuel prices dropped, food prices did not.

Virtually impossible for a restaurant in a lease agreement and/or with a lot of overhead. Your typical restaurant is killing it if it nets a 6%-8% profit in a year. Many established restaurants are well below that. They will not get you in the door with a half sized portion at the same price that they charge for the bigger portion because you will perceive it has way over paying.

Big portion of 8k plates a month at an asp of $12.99 = net earnings of a little over $8,300.

Half portion of 8k plates a month at an asp of $6.50 = $4,100.

For most restaurants, you have to generate more revenue per unit (plate) in order to cover overhead and profit. It is easier to do for a long time and established restaurant that owns the premises in which it operates.

Just because you’re fat doesn’t mean I should be forced to get less food

Next you’ll tell me to wear a mask

Buy an app and salad and have them bring it out when others get meals...
Do it all the time and apps can offer a variety.
