I would say S'port easily tops Baton Rouge for infrastructure.....220/3132 loops around most of city, 49 North from 220 loop to Arky will be done next few years, both S'port & Bossier have nice parkways (with a ton of green space) that parallel the river

Our state definitely needs to build toll roads....don't know why LA is so opposed to them.

To really drive home the point, the main highway in the area is Hwy 90, easily one of the worst roads in this country, and it doesn't even go through Thibodaux or Houma.

the issue with our roads are due to subduction and the weight of 18 wheelers. these heavy loads ruin the roads in summer.

Yep.

.....and a legitimate zoning, better design controls, fewer billboards, and more restrictions over what gets built. Time for Baton Rouge and Lafayette to build more highways and start sweating the small stuff when it comes to aesthetics in public right of ways.

Surface streets in Dallas have gone to crap. They are 1 notch better than NOLA streets. My property taxes have gone up 30% the last couple of years but we somehow still have no money to fix anything.....plenty to give to developers though

Something like 75% of LA's bridges graded out at a D, or worse
because Louisiana has more bridges than any state that isnt Florida.

Yes, that is obvious.... Louisiana, seems to have difficulties making good decisions, unfortunately.

Louisiana does things backwards arse. I have been doing design in this state for some time and did design in another state. Louisiana process is sooooo slow it is ridiculous. Also, Texas has slip ramps off the interstate. You mention slip ramps in Louisiana you would think you just committed murder.

And that's the problem people in Louisiana won't own up to. Too many people here just toss their hands up and say the government will do what they want and not force any change and give the excuse that's the way it's always been done. We have the 6th highest per capita of government workers here. Go to any government agency the beaucracy is at ridiculous levels. They focus on paying themselves and that's why studies are so common. We pay them to study instead of do. They would have to part with the money and they don't want that.

Then to top it off contracts magically go to their buddies for high dollar.

Shreveport/Bossier definitely has the best infrastructure in the state. Hell, Alexandria is layed out better than Nola and BR. It seems the closer you get to Texas, the better the infrastructure.

actually Florida doesn't have that many bridges. At least not nearly as much as you think.

Texas has 49,000 bridges
Ohio has 27,000
Louisiana has 13,300
Florida has 11,400
