My IT department has roughly 15 men, zero women. I asked the head guy about it and he said he doesn't hire women because they're dumb. Only IT would get away with that.

When I go into the office (rarely) I dress nicely. I have a full beard, not a neck beard.
I "do shite" as much as the other people posting here.
If you knew how much the IS guys make, you would probably be more upset than you already are.

I'm in I.T. I can wear a button up and tie or a company logo'd polo with slacks. Slacks can be substituted for jeans if working outside or pulling cable through an attic space.

One computer freezing up is probably pretty low on the priority list. Everyone thinks their little problem is an emergency. It's not. Some of in I.T. have network infrastructure, servers, upgrades, etc. to deal with. If your I.T. staff jumped every time a user thought there was a problem with his computer, nothing would ever get done.

I work part time in IT. Most every computer issue is caused when someone downloads a bunch of shite on their work computer that they shouldn't.
Spent half the day today fixing a woman's computer who corrupted all her files downloading all kinds of toolbars and programs (none of them work related).

I doubt he's head of anything but a cable crew.
There's plenty of women in IT and they are usually very high up and are often the CIO .

They do have the same dress code.
Only most of us see business casual and think "Button down, slacks, maybe a blazer. Polo on fridays, maybe."

I just landed a position at Sunland here in Eunice, I moved here 3 months ago and just started, I will probably retire here, the company is amazing.

I'm in IT:
-I have the same dress code as everyone
-no neckbeard but I did sport a SWEET soul patch back in the day
-i dont dress like a hobo. I wear normal office attire but I generally do not buy expensive "nice" outfits for the office bc there are days that I will be installing/moving/replacing equipment and computers that are really dirty. I am also in charge of our building maintenance and design meaning I'm in a lot of dirty equipment rooms troubleshooting AC controller failures, running wire...etc
-i am like everyone else. I have busy days and slow days. On my slow days I experiment with new tech on one screen while posting on TD with the other.
-if your computer is freezing up... its your probably a combination of your fault, your company's fault for low IT budgets, and your IT guy not protecting you from yourself.
-yeah i do know everything everyone is doing. not because I spy or stumble onto something "juicy" but bc I am the only neutral party in an office split into 2 departments. I literally hear every gripe about the "other side"
I'm also Tall, Dark, and very athletic. Any other IT stereotypes you want me to break for you?
