No they don't. Good IT folks don't snoop and they don't care what you are doing. They are confident in their ability to keep you from wrecking the place and don't need to spy on you nor is it considered to be ethical by any decent IT staff that I've ever encountered (unless you're getting flagged by network monitors or reasonable cause of suspicion is raised.)

Linen pants and shirts in the Summer... I don't think I look like a hobo though. No neck beard.

As a programmer, I have nothing to do with your computer freezing up. Quit surfing gay, midget porn and your sys will probably work correctly.

being in IT for 10 years now, I've learned there is an IT code of ethics. You go one way or the other.

We do get inside knowledge on a lot of things, just because of the nature of the work. You are sometimes tasked with working on sensitive data, be it someones personal data or a company's proprietary info.

You could go either way with it. I personally don't use it to my advantage but I know of people who would.

Quit downloading porn and thinking that it's a good idea to go to "totallylegitwomenwhowilldateyou.com". They're not helping you because their tired of your pathetic, whiny self breaking everything.

Also management types and higher ups usually need the IT staff to terminate employees access before termination before anyone else knows..so I've heard some crazy shite go down at my previous job from the owner, C levels, etc.

Yeah... we had to terminate a guy several years back for severe improper use of the internet. Were supposed to do it at 4:00 on a Friday afternoon, and IT was supposed to lock him out at 4:00 to coincide with me taking him to HR. They did it at like 2:00. Ooops. He had no clue it was coming, either. (He probably should have) He got back from lunch and couldn't log in to the network, wondered if the network was down or what. He got terminated early. Started crying and begging. I felt genuinely bad for him. I would have given him another chance and just blocked his internet access, but it came straight from the CFO.
