Do the police no longer ask for registration and proof of insurance on a traffic stop?

If you are out of state often don’t ask for insurance

He did everything normal people do. And it ended with a ticket within minutes.

"What does your tag mean? I was trying to figure it out"
It means none of your fricking business. If you would have gave me a warning, I would entertain small talk.

The cop also didn't try to search his car for drugs, pull him out of the car for "officer safety", ID the passenger for warrants. The cop was cordial and the driver returned his energy. This is correct policing, not the tyranny that some people endure.

I think 17 over warrants a ticket. I did have a state trooper ask me where I bought my tool box after he gave me a ticket for 7 over. I just told him I didn't remember.

I've been pulled over by a white cop in Jena and in Farmerville, and a black Border patrolman in Vicksburg. Survived it all.
Must be one of them halvsies

Small town cop story: the Sheriff's Office one & only detective wrecked his car, driving his unit into a telephone pole while cruising around the city's power station looking for UFO's.

At least the officer was polite.

I'm a fairly pale white guy, but apparently, driving a van down I20 before dawn ys a suspicious act.

Farmerville
Hell I grew up in Famerville and the cops were some of the coolest people I’ve ever known.

He already ran the tag and it came back to the driver. No need for the paper
When he runs it it also comes back as either NI ( no insurance) or it’s clear.
* Louisiana. Mississippi has different insurance requirement laws*

Sheriff's deputy pulled me over just outside of town. He let me go, no problems. He was looking to ticket the folks from Bastrop who worked at the country plant.
