Im sending the message that these people should be made to go risk their own lives at the front. The Lincoln Brigade may have been Communist scum, but at least they had the balls to go and actually fight in the Spanish Civil War. These whores just want other people to spill the blood and treasure.

The most reliable sign of lack of intelligence and trashiness is a gauge. Will not even speak to people that have them unless forced to like a waitress or the counter person at Autozone.

They already do. All countries do.

There will always be retards.

It's not out of the question they're Ukrainians, which is not mutually exclusive with them being retards.

I'm going to ask you a few questions that hopefully your squirrel sized brain can keep up with... Are you suggesting that a country's sovereignty is based on our ability/capacity to support with arms? Ukraine was sovereign BEFORE we supported with arms.

Is Liechtenstein not a sovereign nation? Or what about Moldova, Romania, or Bulgaria?

Your argument sucks..

Your lack of information shows.

Ukros have been on USAID since 1990s, yeah, let that sink in.

This board would be fairly sparse without folks commenting on what others do.

Yes this is the most baffling thing. People come to the OT, a board dedicated to idle chatter, and they get pissy when the threads aren’t about deep philosophy.

freedom of speech will be gone in Europe

Have you paid attention to England lately. It’s already gone.

It’s in the express lane to extinction in the US as well.

And I’ll suggest to anyone that thinks helping support Ukraine is not in our best interest to read your history and learn a bit more about the region. Very few in this thread are aware what Ukraine has been through in the last 100 years and what exactly the Russian Revolution and the Bolsheviks did to them.

Read Bloodlands as a starter regarding the Holomodor which was never taught in any history class I took from middle school through undergrad.

And if too lazy to read try the movie Mr. Jones on Netflix.

Then maybe you will understand why they don’t want to give an inch to Russia and its dictator.

When Ukraine ousted Viktor Yanukovych in 2013 he was controlled by Russia in every possible way and Petro Poroshenko was elected and brought them to much closer ties with NATO and the European Union which led to Russias invasion of Crimea. He did a lot for reform even though his government was still accused of corruption. Zelenskyy beat him in 2019 which further signaled the Ukrainians were ready for a widespread change in politics and policy and a clean break from the elites and any Russian influence-which led to Putins invasion.

They not only need western support-they deserve Western support.

And anyone who thinks the US is “wasting money” by supporting them doesn’t understand the geopolitical implications and consequences. First-a very large portion of the money that these people think the US just hands over in cash, is being paid to many of the United States defense contractors to build new weapon systems and munitions-most of which are upgraded into the United States military while Ukraine is given existing military stockpiles.

Second, money is a lot cheaper than American soldiers boots on the ground which no one wants but should Ukraine fall to Russia does anyone think this would be an actual stopping point for Putin? Not likely.

Which means American soldiers would have to defend any effort for Russia to push into Poland, Hungary and Slovakia as members of NATO. Which means American troops.

Third, if in fact the United States would halt all support of Ukraine we would lose all credibility not only across Europe but Asia and the Middle East as well. Isolationism is not what the leader of the free world should even consider.

Fourth, does anyone really believe if all support halts that anyone would actually see the money saved? Less federal taxes? Money going to rebuild US infrastructure?

Yeah-you won’t even know it.

I’m not necessarily a huge fan of our government at the moment-in all regards not just one party but all of it-but this is a policy that I’m significantly disappointed in the current administration and how they are handling it. Not just the president but the Vice President has really been bad about it.

I do. I don’t think Russia could practically go any further. Ukraine was already half Russian.

It is the latest iteration of hashtag activism, easy enough to fly a $10 flag from Amazon along with your "in this house" yard sign to be as smug as possible.
