I still cut up six-pack holders because of a commercial I saw when I was a kid

I'm sure a lot of you saw it, it was on Nickelodeon and showed animals getting caught up in them on the beach. I can't throw one away now without cutting it up first. Anyone else do the same thing?

No I save all mine up and toss them in the ocean when I take my yearly 30A trip though

Yep. Leave no loop intact. I’m not a tree hugger or a PETA person, but if a couple of seconds with the knife or scissors keeps a little penguin from a gruesome death, it’s worth it.

Some of the liquor stores around here, when you ask for a 12 pack in the drive-thru they give you two six packs.
I've thrown the holders away before and then I feel guilty and get them out of the trash to cut them up. I think about that commercial with the seagull that has one stuck in its beak and I just can't throw it away without cutting it up.

Hey man it's not the worst way you could spend 3 seconds

I'm the same way. Not a tree hugger at all but every time I go to throw one away, I grab the scissors. It all goes back to that commercial on Nickelodeon, I think about that every time I cut one up.

I buy cases and dress up as Sir Lancelot the Brave

OP:
I don’t see six pack holders anymore.
I guess I’d cut them up if I ran into them in life.

Yep. That commerical made me want to never throw them away without snipping the rings. They showed that bird who couldn't open its mouth.

I literally just cut one up. No lie

<<<<< this guy.
Never saw the commercial but I don’t throw any plastics away away without reducing them to their smallest or simplest footprint.
I never saw the commercial, I just hate trash.

I do
Occasionally I buy a 6 pack of Gatorade and I always cut them up

I have been doing it religiously for years myself.

Yep
The entire bar staff where I worked in college did it, too

I bet most people who saw that commercial do it now. It's burned into our brains.
