This week, I'm starting chemo and radiation for Stage 3 rectal cancer.

Reading about the possible side effects has me concerned, to say the least.

Anyone have personal experience? I know there is a poster that has mentioned that he has had rectal cancer and was treated for it, but I can't find his post about it. I thought I had bookmarked it, but I can't retrieve it.

I'm going to a treatment orientation today, but I'd like to hear about some personal experiences.

Hi. Get a prescription for zofran for the nausea from chemo. Also, really consider a raw food plant based diet. The high fiber from the fruit and vegetables will feed the good bacteria in your gut and really help your immunity.

I’m actually sitting in the chemo chair as I type this. I actually have stage 4 rectal cancer. What questions can I help answer?

Good luck and prayers.

Everyone that I know that has gone through it has had different experiences. The one that was most common was the loss of appetite because everything tasted metallic.

As cliché as this sounds, the better your spirit is, the less the negative side effects will seem to effect you.

Best of luck!

Good luck, I have had 23 rounds and round 24 is scheduled for today for stage 4 colon cancer. Stay hydrated, eat plenty of small meals, get plenty of rest. The first round is the toughest because of the unknown and seeing how your body will react. Chemo knocks me down for 3-4 days then I start to improve and then carry on as normal until it’s time for the next round.
