OP didn't say if this was in BR, but rarely are you going to see someone riding a tri bike or road bike in downtown BR.
The majority hit the levee and some back roads in the St Gabriel area.

I don't have an issue with most cyclists. I make sure I give them space. I also know they need to obey the same traffic laws
Except, again, they fricking don't.
There are rules that apply to bicycles that do not apply to cars. And vice versa.

I'm sure that extra 3 minutes it took you to get to the local Krispy Kreme was agonizing. I'm sorry that it hurt you so bad.

Our cities and roads aren’t designed for cyclists or walking for that matter.
When I was biking I stayed on bike specific trails or roads with wide shoulders that weren’t busy. And never in the bike specific tighties.

No, but I didn’t lift over 1k lbs on the big 3 at about 150lbs

I gave up cycling because it’s too dangerous to ride in Louisiana, especially in the Baton Rouge area. It sucks because I had a lot of fun doing it and it kept me in really good shape.
All the people riding on the road want to do is just get their ride in and go home safe. No one wants to hold you up, trigger your latent homosexuality, or cause you to put your phone, daiquiri, or firearm down as you drive.
It says a lot about a place when you can’t ride a damn bike, even at 6am on a Sunday morning.

The reason cyclists run lights and stop signs is because it's too much of an effort to stop and start up all over again. I know this because I did it for years.

Do you shop in the kid's section?

So far in this thread, we have people complaining that cyclists shouldn't ride on: -rural roads -suburban roads -busy roads -highways
And they will all oppose any bike lanes or trails built

Just a generic medium.
Being a double X and using a CPAP makes really makes people think you’re cool though

So wait a minute. Is it against the law for a cyclist to not stop for a stop sign and not stop for a red light? What the hell is going on out there?
Posted on 7/27/25 at 3:32 pm to Sal Minio
Depends on the state. States that get it have the Idaho stop law. Stop signs are yield signs, red lights are stop signs.

This whole thread is weird because I'm pretty sure Odysseus posted the other day that bike commuting could become a thing and the responses were "you're a RETARD, no one rides a bike in Louisiana!" Where did these mythical lane clogging cyclists come from?

In Mississippi they do apply. You have to obey the same laws are cars.

There is no Krispy Kreme here, sadly,
And if you think following a flock of faggots for 7 miles adds 3 minutes, I’m sorry to inform you that’s not the case.

One guy commuting is not the same as 75 wannabe Lance Armstrongs blocking the road.

Maybe in Kansas? Many rural roads have zero passing opportunities, especially if the spandex legion intentionally spread out to prevent it.

What’s the speed limit on this road?

Wow there are a lot of spandex wearing homos here, wouldn’t have guessed it. Texas being added to the SEC was a bad choice.
