Eh, sounded like a typical small town take from someone that thinks everything anywhere away from them is outrageously expensive and unrealistic. Denver isn't as cheap as rural Louisiana (no shite), but it's also not San Francisco, New York, Hawaii, DC, etc... in regards to housing.

Used to see world class athletes out on the trails regularly in Boulder. The last time I visited and hit up some of my old favorite outdoor spots I almost cried.
Boulder started to change about 20 years ago when it really started growing. Seems like the hippy population started gradually being phased by the corporate, trust fund, social justice types.
Would still move back.

You just have to remember who you’re talking to on here. I live in Monroe, Louisiana and the median house price here is 150k.
Moving to the cities like you mentioned may as well be moving to NYC, to some.

I lived in Boulder, Westminster and Indian Peaks in Lafayette for 10 years. A fat person is a rarity. You have to really be committed to the fatness to be that way in Colorado. My assessment of it having lived there for that long is that the quality of life is vastly superior but that it loses a little luster when you factor in the people. It's not that you don't meet interesting people, it's just not culturally cohesive like Louisianians are and it's missing that magic we get from time to time here. TLDR: it's vastly superior in every way but I do love me some South Louisiana peeps.

don't have grandkids yet, but most of my friends do. I want my children to go and live big, to do absolutely whatever they want to do and live where they want to live. I don't want them feeling stuck to me.

It looks like the median home price is close to 600k. That would exclude the area for me alone. I'm not old but too old to start tackling a mortgage that high.

Even though I moved to a pretty Liberal west coast city, it’s still 100 times better than Baton Rouge.

I mean, a lot of States/Cities don't match up to CO

Which is ridiculous.
The propensity to inflate real estate prices hurts the middle class more than ever.

According to Wikipedia the median household income is 45k too. Either there are a lot of people who rent their entire lives in Denver or they are house poor.

I think I checked Zillow one time and you could purchase a nice house for about $350-400k…
A townhouse
1,000 square feet
If you can find a townhouse in Boulder with 2 br and 1,000 square ft you should jump on it. Many of the condos, townhouses, etc are around the University of Colorado are more expensive than that. I checked listings and couldn't find one 1,000sq ft 2 br condos that was available at that price.

If I didn't have family and a career in SELA, I'd pack up and move somewhere like this without a second thought.

Its happening all over. Most west coast cities are too expensive for the middle class.

The Mean streets of my old 80026 neighborhood. Scary stuff. Sometimes at the rec center a guy might take up 2 parking spots. You have to stay on your toes.

Shitty outlook??? Name one thing in my post that’s wrong. I’ll wait………it’s fact LA is last in EVERYTHING when we pay more taxes and could have one of the richest states in the union. Yet it’s an epic failure. Prove that wrong.

We are in the midst of another housing bubble. Wages aren't keeping up with real estate inflation and that extra mortgage money has to come from somewhere.
