Wow. Patrick is going to be rich. And I am glad.

And I will add, anyone who does not side with Patrick on this is in favor of a police state. He stated his name twice, he was not asked for identification, and he requested that the officers show him the warrant. I certainly would not have recommended that he reach in his pocket for his ID without being specifically requested to do so.

This could have been easily handled. The cops were wrong and I'm always supportive of cops.

When the guy identified himself as Patrick they should have said something along the lines of "we're looking for a guy named Michael. Could you please just show us your ID so we know you're not him?"

That cop screwed up although they did look a little bit alike and the whole "ummmmm, Patrick" thing sounded awfully suspicious.

well ummmmm makes it sound like youre unsure of your answer. People dont say ummmmm followed by the truth, its usually something you say while coming up with a good response

regardless I said the cops were wrong, but the kid did absolutely nothing to help himself. I got pulled over like a month ago, I have a chl bc i transfer alot of cash bc of my check cashing business sometimes $500k in cash. I got a speeding ticket, told the cop it was in my glove compartment, and nothing came of it all, i didnt get shot. Also Im not white.

So that gives him the right to slam the door on them and then act like a victim when he gets tased? I don't think so.

Well he asked for the warrant and wasn't supplied with one. If I were in his shoes, I'd be skeptical as frick.

Literally all they had to do was show him the warrant, ask for his ID, and move on. But instead they tried to force an arrest on the wrong guy.

But yea, let's absolve them and blame the victim here. for frick's sake

I find it hilarious when the response from the knuckle draggers on TD is "well he deserves this because he didn't cooperate with the police". Such a sheep mentality to assume an "authoritative" figure is justified in their actions simply because they are a cop. Just admit that the cops effed up. They did. There is no way to justify their inability to perform their jobs. They aren't gods, they aren't infallible, so lets quit pretending like they are and point out incompetency when we see it.

No you wouldn't. You'd have gotten your ID like a normal person, and not said "ummmmm......... Salmon?" when asked your name.

HE SAID CALL MY PEOPLE. CALL MY PAROL OFFICER.

they could have interjected right then and there and said, okay we will speak with him or have him come out there.

They did not even tell him the name of the person they were looking for.. so he doesn't even know why they are arresting him.

Think about that. It's not like he knew it was another name.. and he could have said NOOO wait let me show my identification.. I am not that person.

They didn't even tell him what the hell was going on or what it was for. That's why he asked to see the warrant.. and he had gotten to see the warrant right away.. he would have seen it wasn't even his name.. and he could have taken steps to prove that.

My goodness. Why can't people believe incompetent police exist? They are humans. They aren't always right. Every case is unique to itself and it doesn't always have to be a racial issue.. It can be just idiotic assholes.

so when arresting a possible criminal, cops are supposed to allow them to jump in a car seat and all them to be reaching all around a vehicle, its the cops duty to fully explain themselves while a possible criminal is digging for possible weapons. that's bullshite too salmon.

yet they didn't ask for his ID, which I'd like to think (or hope) is protocol when arresting someone that has a warrant out for their arrest.

I don't care what race he is. The point is the cops jumped to conclusions and should have verified his identity well before attempting to arrest him.

Well then he opens himself up to being mistaken for someone else.

So even though he identified himself twice, which you say he didn't do, you think he deserved this because the way in which he identified himself wasn't confidence inspiring?

You have to be trolling.
