you ever been arrested in your yard for doing nothing wrong?
I haven't. Last time I encountered police in my yard I complied with their requests.
But I also didn't have someone living at the same address that resembled me with a warrant out for their arrest.
And obviously the bystanders knew this Michael guy.
I get it, cops are assholes, I had my nose broken by a cops elbow once.
But what do we do? There isn't mutual respect between cops and citizens and that's on both parties.
And I've only seen one person note the fact the video is edited and skips around.

I mean he could have handled himself better, but the officers performed much terrible and were much more to blame I think. Then them trying to justify themselves afterwards to the people around made it seem a whole lot worse.

HE SAID CALL MY PEOPLE. CALL MY PAROL OFFICER.
He said it while resisting them. He could have led with that, or got his ID out, or sounded like he knew his name. Any number of things instead of what he did.
The cops were not anywhere near perfect, but neither was this kid. To blame it only on the police is stupid.

no, but they should be required to verify the person's identity before cuffing them. They asked his name, he said Patrick (yes he said ummm) and then they tried to arrest him. Would you not stop for a sec and think "let's verify who this kid is"?

I'm all for compliance, however, in this case, the officers never explained what was going on, asked for ID, or showed a warrant. They asked his name and he told them twice. Why not keep a level head and discuss the situation before immediately resorting to force?

so when arresting a possible criminal, cops are supposed to allow them to jump in a car seat and all them to be reaching all around a vehicle, its the cops duty to fully explain themselves while a possible criminal is digging for possible weapons. that's bullshite too salmon.
holy shite

So you are saying the guy should resist and get shot? ...... Yea thats a good idea. Resist arrest of pissed off a-hole cops. How has that been working out for peeps?
So we should all sacrifice our rights so not to upset some pissed off a-hole cops?
Some of yal are such racist you can't even look at these on a case by case basis. How anyone could watch that and not be horrified is beyond me.
Those cops were out of line. They grabbed him simply because he was a black man (they look a lot alike, lol at those dudes looking alike). They tazed him when he was no physical threat to them. They not once asked for his identification or complied with his request to provide the warrant.
Newsflash, cops can't attempt to rip you out of your car, taze you and then say it was because there was a warrant (that they never supplied) for someone who ISNT YOU.

So even though he identified himself twice, which you say he didn't do, you think he deserved this because the way in which he identified himself wasn't confidence inspiring?
Where do you see deserved in my post?

you're not even blaming the police at all! You said "the kid brought it on himself" in your first fricking post, dude. You are genuinely the most obtuse person I've ever conversed with on the internet.

i think its lets arrest and secure individual and then identify and verify. when cops are going after dangerous criminals everyday... they are doing what's in there best interest of protecting their own life.

I blame the police because they were the ones in the position to handle it the right way in the beginning and they didn't

Why the hell didn't he just comply? they would have been able to check his ID and move along. What a dumbass.....
