What do you think the cops intended after he put his hands on the car?
A: frick him from behind
B: cuff him
C Confirm his ID while making sure he's not a threat.

I'm justifying this situation based on what's going in this country.

why are you asking? i'm pretty sure that was all he said before going "umm Patrick" maybe another one syllable word.
Is that cooperating or is it not? I feel like we all know the answer.

Ah yes, the standard justify the officer's incompetence because the civilian was a bad person and deserved it.
I never said that. Some of you can not be this fricking incapable of reading.
You are throwing assumptions that this dude got in minor trouble for drugs.
I'm saying he has already been in trouble, I don't know what for. So maybe he actually ruined his own life. It isn't ruined at the moment the cops tase him and cite him for obstruction.
We really need to get away from blaming everyone else but ourselves.
I simply responded to Verlander saying he never lied to ruin someone's life.
This guy already made choices to do that. Unless we all assume his last trouble with the law was fabricated by police, you know, because all police are bad people.

do you agree that the cops should have handled it like this?
quote:
cop: instead of saying "arrest him" how about "ok Patrick we have a warrant for XXXX at this address that fits your description can you show us some identification"
this, IMO, would be the easiest and smartest way to go about it. You have the kid in a vulnerable position. Asking the question in this manner is not going to escalate the situation. And you avoid a lot of drama and potential repercussions. Oh, and then you don't have to lie multiple times about asking for ID; because you actually did.

Unlike you I don't claim to know these people.

Why do you think these cops lied about the interaction to the neighbors?

ok I just watched again - you are right, he didn't say arrest him.
But Patrick said his name twice before he was told to stand up and within 15 seconds of first contact. At that point ask for id.
He gets told to stand up - and complies.
He gets told to put his on the car, and he puts his hands up and says "what did I do" a pretty reasonable response given that he just came from probation officer and them a few seconds later sits back down in the car.
The officer could have asked for his id after his name, told him what was going on, or calmly answered his question when Patrick was standing in the doorway with his hands up. Officer was responsible for escalating this much more than Patrick and had multiple chances to de-escalate the situation.

The cops never asked for ID, then lied about it. They knew they were in the wrong, you should know that too.

I appreciate he is concerned about holding down his job and he actually at this point in time is staying out of trouble.. or avoiding it.. because as it's stated.. he would lose his job..

So the cop lied to the people around him, not on his report right? Why is that? Maybe because citizens have been protesting cops and even using violence towards them?
Hmmmm
Hmmmm

I think its cooperating, he answered the question (twice actually) before the officer told him to stand up. He then did stand up at which point the officer could have explained the situation.
