Company vehicles too.
It's why I absolutely love that my company truck doesn't have any logos on it.

Why would a plaintiff's lawyer file a frivolous auto suit?
I see auto claim reports all the time....less than $1000 paid in property damage but $10k on bodily injury

I would have thought Family Dollar stores

Why is it so much higher in Louisiana? The Napoleonic code. Lawyers who graduate from public universities in Louisiana cannot pass the bar in any other state. So they're stuck, and usually become ambulance chasers.
Demographics is my answer.

What are the chances the Venus Williams is getting hounded by Alexander Shunnarah?

Lawyer billboards. I was defending a depo of one in Michigan yesterday, and one thing he said.... "Why do you have so many personal injury lawyers on billboards? No other state has so many."
I want to avoid being a hypocrite here, since those assholes help to put food on my table. But I hate them. I hate the litigation culture. It's trashy. It's embarrassing. It really makes me want to retire and never look back. This profession is truly a den of thieves.
This state is a legal hell hole. It's consistently ranked as one of the worst judicial climates in the country. Greedy trial lawyers and ambulance chasers are everywhere.
Why else do you think car insurance or insurance in general in this state is so expensive?
We need texas style tort reform badly and we were so close with David Vitter possibly winning but the trial lawyers got scared shitless and raised a frickload of money to defeat him.
When Texas passed their own tort reform, it basically kicked out a lot of ambulance chasers and quite a few of them landed here and the rest is history.

I have worked auto injury claims for a major insurance company in many different states. My time in New Orleans working auto claim was unreal. The Judges are in the back pocket of all the personal injury attorneys. Go to Ruth's Chris any day at lunch & you will see all the judges getting their lunches taken care of by the personal injury attorneys who bankroll their campaigns. It is an epidemic of epic proportions.

JBE is one of those a-holes and you are right in your assessment.
Agreed.
JBE is the Trial lawyers bitch through and through.
Too bad all the money isn't going to save him in 2019 when he's forced to defend his atrocious tax and spend liberal record and the GOP is united in defeating him instead of the backstabing we saw with Dardenne, Angelle and Vitter.

That isn't a question of liability.

Can you expound on exactly what in Louisiana tort law should be reformed? Maybe some examples of Texas reform that we should adopt?

Just pointing out the ridiculousness of wrecks that result in a minor paint scrape on a bumper ending up with $10-15k in "injury" claims paid out

Houston has a lot, but I agree, this is a very sue happy state. I have dash cams on my cars and I think it's insane not to have one.(good ones are only $40).
So many scammers out there.

Speaking of states and billboard memories, the abortion ones all over Florida are pretty bad.
Have to explain abortion to the kids every trip to Disney.

I agree, but what can you really do when your client is on your arse for that and has medical bills ?
Posted on 6/30/17 at 8:42 pm to lsu2006
Senitrus probably can't define the word tort
Posted on 6/30/17 at 8:45 pm to NIH
I always hear people screaming for tort reform but when prompted, no one ever says what changes should be implemented. Maybe he'll be different. But probably not.
Posted on 6/30/17 at 8:49 pm to lsu2006
Mostly people with no clue about the LA legal climate, just parroting LABI talking points. It's especially funny when they talk about their needing to be medical tort reform.
