Went from a binge drinking blackout multiple times per week to dry on my first try. Gave up booze for lent last year knowing that it is a huge problem in my life and it stuck. I never thought I'd make it 40 days, much less 365. That shite cost me friends, relationships, family, wrecked my credit, and damn near ended my life. I never could drink socially like some people can - there was never such thing as going out for a couple of drinks. I'd play it off as drinks at dinner, but once I was on my way home I'd pick up a bottle and beers on my way home or I'd just go get shithoused at a bar on my way home.

Is it possible to restart your life in your late 30s? I hope so. I feel like a completely new person now.

Student loans wrecked my credit.

Hopefully Bernie gets elected.

How did you manage to balance binge drinking with OTR truck driving?

It's a horrible drug, but I can't shake it. I'm having a Svedka and soda in your honor.

Saw a commercial that said forget everything I knew about air beds. So I did. It was a load off my mind.

Congrats. The only way this happened is that you deep down in your heart wanted to quit. Have a late buddy of mine that quit smoking the same way. Smoked for years and woke one day and realized how nasty it was. Threw his pack in the trash and never looked back.

If they are real friends and family they will welcome you back now that they know you have genuinely changed your life. Don't waste time contact them tomorrow and tell them you want them back in your life.

Love that you made it to the other side. I hear stories of the lights coming on once sober, I'm not there yet.
