What I meant is I have to want to get sober and I’m not sure I want to get sober at this time in my life

Ok gotcha.
I was that way for a long time too.
“I’m only hurting myself” was my line to make myself feel better. Was far from the truth for me personally. My drinking kept me away from many good times with family and healthy times with friends.. and kept me single over and over.

It's true that you have to want to get sober but don't let that become a crutch for not ever trying. It's always going to be the harder choice. It's easy to just give in.

Yall been surviving with the bridge out this long?

Man I’m ready for it to be done.
Got a new truck so I won’t go through the park anymore. They need to hurry up something fierce!

Am I the only one that found it moronic that they closed an entire lane of Jones Creek because a bridge was closed in a neighborhood over a mile away? Seems dumb.

I can't trust someone who is an idiot who says things like this.

Same here. If I could drink like a normal person, I'd do it all day, every day. I'm very envious of those that can drink with impunity but I've finally realized that I absolutely cannot and will never be able to without wrecking my life and probably losing my freedom for a long long time.

The one by Episcopal HS. It's being replaced and has had this area kind of in a mess for 7-8 months. I knew PWE lived in the neighborhood at the end of my street. His neighborhood is essentially a small horseshoe and funneling all of that traffic.

Exactly.
I don’t have the “off switch” like normal people do. Once I start drinking, only biology or the police are stopping me.

Congrats man, very proud of you. Alcoholism is serious business. As others have said, just take it one day at a time.

It's not worth it brother. Hell, you and I both know people that have killed themselves with substances and others that had major problems and turned out OK. Our personal examples should be enough.

Everyone’s different. But that slowed down my weekend warrior lifestyle pretty good. Had four beers at a crawfish boil today as opposed to going out till I black out.

Having kids sobered me up a good bit too. Particularly when they were 4-5 years old and started to realize something was wrong with dad.
