So you are looking at this only from your point of view.

What about the garbage men? It may be easier on them if you used a can......

8 hilarious replies and yet no one can give me a good reason to use a can or why so many people use one.

First, my cans are big enough to dissuade all but the largest of dog breeds from having an interest.

Second, even small animals will get in garbage bags placed on the street. What kind of trashy people are you?

Third, my garbage collection service employs the use of trucks with hydraulic arms for lifting said cans. It is far more cost effective than paying to staff each truck with three employees.

robotic arms on their trucks, thus the can must be used

I guess this is a reason in those places. Here we just have a couple dudes that jump off the back and toss em in.

I typically just eat my food straight off the table. I can't understand why anyone would want to eat off of a plates: It's just something else that will need to be cleaned after dinner.

frick that, why don't you go all the way, pussy?

The whole waste management industry is one big needless scam. I just keep my trash in the house and live with it.

We use the cans so we don't have bags of trash sitting around the 100 degree garage waiting for pickup, stinking up the place.

What shithole do you live in where dogs are ravaging garbage and people are stealing stanky garbage cans? And yes, cans are far more effective against dogs or coons than garbage bags.

Y'all don't have the big rubber garbage cans with the flip top lids, bar on the front that hooks on the garbage truck and two big wheels on the back?

We have those, even out in the county where I am out.

Never mind. I see you're from MS.
