. I have hundreds of knives including stupidly expensive hand mades (not because I need them but because I can't resist them and am a bit dumb) so I have some background here.
I have this illness about weapons too.

Case Sodbuster Jr. Only drawback the blade doesn’t lock. Will last forever. Don’t remember when I bought mine but it’s been years.

I've been a groomsmen and gotten a knife as a gift... it was sweet too...wood handle with my name engraved. When I got it I was psyched and loved it. But it's heavy and made for show not for function so it eventually went by the wayside...
I'm getting married soon and thinking of getting my guys personalized flasks.

Benchmade is really nice. I have a griptillian. I also have a nice case that I got for like $30 iirc. They're an American made classic.

Old Timers are cheap and good quality.

I have a three blade Case and it's a son of a gun to open. I'll look at the single blades. I don't have the fingernails for it.
How much are you trying to spend? What are you using the knife for? Work, just opening packages, processing card board, etc?
There are some real good knives in the lower price tier that works well.

I have a CRKT as well, but the Ruger model. The most study knife I have ever owned. Great bang for your buck.

Always been a Spyderco man myself. For American made check out the Spyderco Native. For budget purposes checkout the Cat.

The $10 Chinese pocketknife I picked up as an impulse buy at the hardware store last year has held up better than the last $50 Boker I bought.

Kershaw KEN Onion has served me well for years. May not be the fanciest or prettiest thing, but it’s a dam fine knife. I’d be delighted if someone gave me one.

A nice Kershaw
The past two knives I’ve carried every day were Kershaw’s. They were both great knives and I would have only had one had I not lost the first one. I’ve had a blackout and a blur. Loved them both
