If I were in your neighborhood, I would apply since I am thinking of reentering the job market, but not near you. You sound a lot like my favorite employer from the past.

Fine. I'll do it.
Not really. I hate your ilk

We make the office environment fun. We have essentially a game room with a couple video games, putting green, shuffle board, plus free snacks, soft drinks, beer and wine.
This young generation does not want to have fun at work.
They want to work efficiently, remotely, and then go have fun with their friends. Outside of work.

Despite the billions of applications and job postings these days, it's still who you know as it always has been. People sending out hundreds of apps are wasting their time. Probably 5% of those submissions ever get seen by a human.
Ironically the old “walk into the business and shake someone’s hand” has reverted back to being good advice
My desk I was rarely in was in the front of my old office so I handled all the walk ins when I was there. Anyone dropping a resume off I’d take it to the respective department lead
It at least showed to me that you are at absolutely minimum socially competent enough to cold call, which can’t be said for a lot of people.
It’s a waste of gas but less of a waste of time than spamming a million job applications that are 99% bs job postings

Or get stuck making cold calls and getting paid straight commission.
Say what you will but I’m in insurance. Started and had to make those cold calls for a couple years and built my own Agency with straight commission. No cap on straight commission and bonuses. After a couple years of grinding now I work from referrals so no cold calls and an existing block of clients that are loyal because we take care of them. Made over $600k last year and get to go on really cool trips every year. My wife works for the same company on the operations side and does really well too.
Yes the recruiting was a grind as well and you have to go through 10 to find 2 that will actually work but once you got your foundation built the residual income grows and less work the longer you do it.

Had an applicant a couple months ago for a jr civil survey position. Dude's name was Christopher but legit on his cover letter he had a couple of personal details about himself, certified diver, can speak French, etc. But then it said you can call me Topher. Sorry bro, I'm not interviewing you if you wish to be addressed as Topher.

I miss the old days of “simple” job searches. Was looking for a new job recently and found a great one thankfully, but one of the companies I was interviewing for I did 4 interviews and a phone call + a skills and personality test and they ghosted me after the 4th and final round interviews.
Apparently this is common now, it’s kinda nuts. Either I have a job or I’m looking for a job. I don’t have unlimited time to waste over 2 months to interview with you 7 times for you to then ghost me.
It’s hard out there for everyone.
