I graduated HS in 82, college in 86 and I can promise you, it was an awesome time to be that age.

Pretty much everyone who was alive in the 80s and is alive today misses the 80s
Its the decade that elicits the most nostalgic responses on here for sure

The best thing about the 80's...No social media.

I remember having nuclear attack drills in elementary school so it was a real thing.

We went to completely different schools then. Never once did that happen where I was.

Not sure how old you are, but i promise you that the Cold War was a very real thing.. it was all over the news, and there was also a hugely publicized Movie of the Week[tm]- back when MOTW’s were a big deal- called The Day After, which portrayed the after effects of nuclear fallout on middle America.. i think that the legendary acting icon Steve Guttenburg was in it … So yeah, maybe my parents could have doen a better job shielding me from certain news and tv shows- but you’d have to be a nitwit, or a taco short of a combination plate, to not know that the threat of nuclear obliteration was very, very real .

It doesn’t really seem like you miss the 80s based on your post

Politics didn’t dominate everything. The country wasn’t as divided. Reagan won 49 states in 1984. That will never happen again.

Don't we all? The '80s were awesome. People who weren't even alive in the '80s miss the '80s. As well they should.

10 out of 10 80s years had higher homicide rates than today... since the 80s we've had 1 year with 80 or more cops shot and killed, 1994. The 80s had 5 years above that threshold, including our last 100+ shot and killed cops year.
I also forget which decade produced this song

If the 80s didn’t exist we probably don’t get the classic Ice Cube film Are We There Yet

The Westbank was awesome in the 80s. Yes, The Westbank. Pre Popeye.

NYC was a war zone back in the 1980’s. 42nd street was all $.25 porn theaters, hustlers, and sleazy shops. Cars would catch on fire in NYC and no one would come put the fire out. Squeegee guys would basically hold your car hostage at red lights if you didn’t pay a toll to pass through. It was the height of the crack epidemic and it seemed like major urban cities were very dangerous. I feel like that started to change quickly in the 1990’s and most of my friends wanted to move to large urban cities.

So BR has turned into 80s NYC minus cheap porn theaters
Great

Please do not let facts and logic get in the way of people’s perceptions, TIA
