NLU blowing Tech out 44-7 in 1987 was great to see in person.

I wouldn't trade growing up in Monroe for anything. That place was magical in the 70s, 80s and 90s.
Don Redden lived across the street and Bubba Brister was 3 houses down and the Stites brothers at the end of the street tore everyone up in football and baseball.
Tough to be a normal kid in that neighborhood without any particular stand out athletic abilities.

If you ever had to go into Mer Rouge State Bank (from like 1991 to 2005ish) then you've probably talked to my Mother in Law ....
We would drive up there for ice cream on Sundays after church.

Neville vs west monroe seemed like a better ticket there than NLU vs tech

Same. I even caught myself upvoting a 5 year old post of mine here after saying the same thing verbatim to myself.

Pat Collins was a POS. My friend played for him. He got a concussion in spring practice and spent three days in a darkened hospital room. Not one member of the coaching staff came to see him.
Might say more about your friend than the coaching staff.

They should be FCS playing in the southland. Just saying
Also ULL should have never changed from USL. The USL Ragin Cajuns with the Bulldog as the mascot was so clean. If if they didn’t want to be full directional just call it “University of South Louisiana”

I worked with the guy from Natchitoches that went there and he was in some fraternity that was supposed to be elite. I can’t imagine any fraternity at Northeast being elite. He was hard to be around.

11th (top) floor of Olin my freshman year. If I remember correctly it was my sophomore year they went I-A (94). Playoffs the year before. That was a terrible decision IMO.
Some great memories in my four years there. Haven’t been back to the area since 97.

I went to Tech so I didn't have a dog in the name change hunt, but I thought it was ridiculous to change the names.
I also think it's pathetic that ULaLa fashions themselves as "The University of Louisiana". It's like someone in the Salvation Army demanding to be called a soldier.

ULM is a better name than NE Louisiana
Indians was a better mascot but they have actually done a great job with this Warhawk thing
Jumping to FBS was too-much-too-soon.
They did all of the above at the same time and they once fantastic small school lost it’s way.
It is also noteworthy that a new interstate opened up around this time and took away Shreveport as a ULM feeder city.

quote:had him and he taught sittting in a chair on top of his desk half the time. Had the other guy for World His. He gave us a test in like week 2. Made about a 39 on it. Not another test till a retarded final. Me and about 6 other guys got a copy of the final. We spent about three days trying to answer and all memorized the key. Abccdbacdcba
RIP, Dr. H. Perry Jones.
We all had a plan to make like a 90 on it to save a decent grade. My buddy had caught a stomach virus and was in the first row, the professor handed the tests out one at a time. My buddy got his test and from memory filled out the key perfectly, and turned it in on a 100 question test before the professor had them all passed out. Put it on his desk and ran to the shitter. The rest of us cheaters just stared at each other like wtf?
We followed the plan and made Bs my buddy got an A.
