Never went to school there but growing up in a little po dunk town in Northeast Louisiana, NLU was the thing back in the day. The games were a big, fun draw, especially those games against Louisiana Tech.

When the name changes occurred they killed part of the soul of that place along with the pride, history, and enthusiasm.

ULM is just dumb.

I graduated the last year that we were the Indians.

I thought the mascot change was silly, but still had a great experience there.

Nope. West Monroe sucked hard back then. You only went to that game if you wanted to witness a murder.

Neville against Ruston was the game.

I moved to Monroe from out of state in 1983 when I was a kid. My dad and I started going to NLU games and quickly became big fans. The stadium was really nice for a small school, and they had some good teams and players like Bubby Brister and Stan Humphries. At the end of every game we would go down on the field and listen to the band play in the stands. Fun times

Bastrop and WM were bottom feeders in that district, while Neville, Ruston, and Ouachita were ranked in the top ten in the state.

I'm a Tech grad, but actually live closer to Monroe. I HATED when they changed the name, HATED when they changed the mascot.

My question is, has it done anything to benefit the University? If it were still NLU, would anything be different?

Pat Collins was a POS. My friend played for him. He got a concussion in spring practice and spent three days in a darkened hospital room. Not one member of the coaching staff came to see him.

Maybe they did and he couldn't see them because the room was darkened.
