Since we’re in generalization mode, I’m guessing that you’ve never lived anywhere other than Louisiana?
So how could you possibly know how “great” Louisiana really is if you’ve never experienced a different place of residence?

Try moving to Florida. They have zero idea what good food, much less seafood is. Blue hairs and rejects from every other state come here to be 70yo swingers and bath salt users eat faces. Disney is the epitome of hell and people complain when the temps drop below 75. You have drivers from New Hampshire mixed with drivers from Minnesota, some 25, some 75 so everything you're on the road you're taking your own life in your hands and can't get anywhere in the time the GPS says you can.

Do they live in crude huts made from packed dirt and sticks and straw? With the floors made of dirt? No running water anywhere? No electricity for many miles. Shoes are a luxury item to children? Schools in the area are basic wooden stick like structures with no actual doors and dirt floors?
Then it's nowhere near third world country.

Swing and a miss. The definition of "third world country" is more of an artifical construct than a useful term. I have travelled pretty widely and "third world countries" all include a full spectrum of living conditions from opulent mansions to shacks without indoor plumbing. There are plenty of places in the Delta, Appalachia, reservations, etc that come close to the latter. Latest figures indicate that 1.5 to 2 million people in the US live in homes without indoor plumbing.

My wife and I make a good living here. My job exists in pretty much any city in the country. We could move wherever we want but choose to stay here

Some of the reservations up in northern AZ have people living in pretty poor conditions(no water, etc). But...they still have access to many resources from just being Natives(free healthcare, etc). I still don't consider that third world.

Granted, there are some pretty shitty places in the MS delta, but I have covered it pretty well and can't compare anything that I have seen to a true 3rd world country. while totally shitty, these places do all have basic utility and emergency services readily available.
